Lace & Legacy

2024-2025 (Ongoing)

Lace & Legacy is part of a photographic series and commentary on the shared experience of a modern day rural lifestyle, along the Tweed River, in inland Northern NSW. The sublime landscapes are interrupted by the variable conditions of the river and hazardous domestic/industrial accessories, whilst framed nostalgically through the juxtaposition of a popularly romanticised past.

This body of work evolved in response to being a part of the river’s ever-changing story. The layers of historical remains speak about life acclimated to, and dependent on, crossing the river, and its causeways, each day. With reverence for its mostly tranquil environment, brimming with wildlife, there is an equal to and increasing measure of disrepair present with the added abstract signs of modern living.
